A Deeper Dive into Improving Test Security
|
One of the key discussions at this year’s COTS conference was to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of the assessments. Since confidentiality is one
of the cornerstones of data & information security; it is an
obligation of the organization or individual to keep its
information confidential and protect itself from
vulnerabilities. Security testing evaluates the system...

Industry Trends and Credentialing Best Practices

At the I.C.E.
Exchange Conference discussions centered around several
key aspects like - How certification programs differ and what are
the considerations to protect the public? What happens when a
participant performs poorly on an assessment that could directly
lead to a credential loss? Are the certification exams and
programs accessible and inclusive for all employees? Does the...

The Future of Equitable Testing
|
During the E-ATP
Conference industry experts and thought leaders
deliberated on how disruptive technologies like AI, and
biometrics are improvising the long-standing assessment
approaches. But ironically, much work is left before realizing
the full potential of digitization and using the assessment data
to improve learning outcomes. Data systems used by assessment
administrators don’t follow...

Living at an old-age home can be lonely, tiresome and
monotonous. The residents barely have a reason for excitement.
Even though the residents are surrounded by people in similar
circumstances, they can still feel lonely and alienated.
So, this year upholding the long-standing tradition of
celebrating Diwali with great fanfare, the employees from our
India office welcomed the festival of lights with the parents of
the golden ages at ‘Swarg Community Care’. We interacted with
them, distributed sweets & gifts, and conducted several fun
activities. Their twinkling smiles and warm-hearted blessings
will always be our best memory.
Swarg
Community Care is a specialized residential home for
elderly where bedridden, terminally ill, immobile, and
permanently disabled elders are looked after by a professional
care team.

From the Founder’s Desk

“I bet you don’t really know how much of your
data is floating around on the internet. I
certainly don’t! We live in a time where
hacking, identity theft, and data loss are the
most common news. Cheating and theft of content
also pose additional challenges. An online exam
security strategy that allows you to catch the
“cheaters” and identify integrity breaches is
the need of the hour. Test security goes beyond
catching the cheaters.
|
|
|
|
If we focus on online proctoring, maintaining online exam
security is critical to prevent digital proxy testing. It will
help identify potential misconduct while protecting the content
from being compromised or shared. But test security doesn’t
begin and end with the proctors. Here’s what we can do to
maintain the online exam security:
|
|
First and foremost, identify a lawful basis for
processing recorded data in testing. Many
organizations rely on it because of their
legitimate interest in test security for
recording test takers.
|
|
Develop policies around the purpose of recording
and data minimization so that you only use
recorded data for assessment security purposes.
|
|
Follow Federal and State guidelines, International GDPR & other privacy laws, and industry standards & best practices to maintain test security.
|
|
Be transparent in communication with
test-takers. They should know they are being
recorded. Also, share information on how their
data will be used.
|
|
If you are using automated decision-making, carefully consider it. While you may allow AI to flag issues automatically for human review. Ensure that you refrain from allowing AI to make decisions, like accusing a test-taker of cheating.
|
|
Conduct a Data Privacy Impact Assessment (DPIA), to protect yourself if there is a regulatory inquiry.
|
|
Stay consistent and accountable by adopting a
written policy relating to recorded data.
|
|
A collaborative approach between industry leaders is essential
for the balance of security and IP protection while focusing on
the overall candidate experience. And this requires an organized
system where individuals, accessors, and organizations
collectively contribute to keeping themselves secure. It is
essential to assist organizations in providing better testing
experiences while ensuring cost-effective implementation,
self-sustainability, and maximum benefits.”
